Theobroma @ Bangsar Village II

Nice Ambiance!

The Chocolate Counter

A chocolate concept cafe! Chocolate to eat, chocolate to drink, chocolate as candy, chocolate fondue....and many more. The ambiance alright but service is slow. We waited more than 15 minutes just to wait for the Belgian Waffle.

Waffles with Strawberries

The waffle tastes nice. Drizzled with nice milk chocolate and sprinkles of sliced strawberries, it taste pretty good. However, it could do better with more chocolate on top. With a price tag of RM14.90, it is pretty pricy. You can add an additional RM4 for a scoop of ice cream. Situated at the corner facing Chawan at Bangsar, it is pretty easy to spot.

Will try the chocolate drinks next time :)

Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Serves 1

Ingredients
3-4 potatoes
1 cheddar slice singles
2-3 tablespoons of fresh milk (Famhouse brand)
black pepper
salt

Method
  1. Skin potatoes
  2. Boil potatoes in hot water and salt til soft.
  3. Mash potatoes while hot together with cheese til a smooth consistency
  4. Add in fresh milk and mix well
  5. Add in black pepper and salt to taste

Hiking at Forest Research Institute (FRIM)

What to do on a lazy weekend? A healthy alternative would be going to FRIM situated in Kepong. It cost RM1 per person per entry and if you are bringing in your car, an additional RM5. If you would like to get their annual pass (for cars) with unlimited access, it would cost RM8.

FRIM

The place is well maintained and the small streams provide clean and fresh water to wash up after a long hike. There is even a Malay Teahouse that serve authentic malay food. Entertain yourself to a game of Batu Seremban(5 stones) or congkak or even checkers using the traditional bottle caps.Their Rendang Tok Janggut tastes good. Cost RM8.50 per piece and additional of RM1.20 per piece of ketupat. Their Mee Rebus did not fare so well at RM7.50. Service is very little slow though.

Table Setting at the Malay Teahouse

A perfect place to do a healthy hike and leisure.

Bonjuk @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Fancy some healthy porridge? Bonjuk situated at Desa Sri Hartmas, offers all kinds of healthy korean porridge. Seafood, vegetable, oyster and mushroom and many more...

Seafood Porridge

Kimchi and Octopus Porridge

The texture of the porridge is more of the grainy type and topped with roasted sesame seeds and pounded seaweed. It comes together with 3 other types of side dishes cabbage Kimchi, a type of beef jerky and a type of mashed ginger kimchi. Tried the Kimchi and Octopus as well as the Seafood porridge meal. The seafood porridge in my opinion tastes a little bland and they have very little ingredients. Their prawns are like so minuscule and the most I can see are carrots and spring onion. I like the Kimchi and Octopus porridge as the porridge is pretty tasty and the octopus goes very well with it.It cost RM12.90 for the Kimchi and Octopus porridge and RM15.90 for the Seafood porridge. Both are Medium sized portions and pretty filling for ladies. They serve sky juice.

The place has a nice ambiance but feels a little warm though.

Restaurant Bao-Bao @ Aman Suria

Pan Mee shops are getting popular. The normal traditional noodle has evolved from plain soup to Chili versions and most recently, another version by Restaurant Bao-Bao. How different is it? Well for a start, they put in pork slices and 2 small meat balls. Instead of putting in minced meat and anchovies, they put a type of fried crispy stuff that taste really good. This is their signature pan mee. They do have another two other types of Pan Mee which is the traditional version and a new Garlic Pan Mee (yet to try it!). They have four types of chili to go with. Their sambal is good. Sourish and spicy.

Signature Soup Pan Mee (It tastes better than it looks!)

Pork Chop

Business was so good they ran out of tables and customers had to wait for a place. The pricing is really affordable too and I would come back here again for a nice bowl of pan mee. Parking was a breeze at night.
RM4.80 for a small bowl of signature pan mee, RM2.20 for a small bowl full of minced meat as the side (portion enough for 3-4 person) and they charge RM0.30 per glass of sky juice.

**Updates** I went there again. This time, managed to take pictures. They offer a new item which is deep fried pork chop as a snack. Cost RM3. Tastes yummy too!

Seri Penang @ Ikano Power Center

What used to be Fasta Pasta has now been replaced with Seri Penang that serves Nyonya Penang food.
They sell dishes and single portion food like rice, stir fried noodles and soup noodles. Their pricing is a bit like Madam Kwan's type. Not cheap but portions are big.

I tried their Penang Char Fun with seafood which is Wat Tan Hor and Nasi Lemak. It's pretty tasty but not something that I would crave for (esp when they are so many other nyonya food restaurants dotting the Klang Valley). During Ramadan time, they are giving complimentary Air Bandung drinks. The pricing is as follow

Penang Char Fun RM12.90
Nasi Lemak RM12.90
Sky Juice RM1.50
+ 10% service charge

The waiters and waitresses are friendly.

Teatime at Teapot Cafe @ SS2

One place I like to hang out with girlfriends over a nice cup of tea and tea time snacks would be the Teapot Cafe. The ambiance is excellent, cosy, serves excellent scones and cakes, wide variety of tea and the appeal of English style interior. Recently we ordered their Devonshire set (about RM19.90) that consists of
1. A pot of tea (can be shared)
2. Sandwich (either tuna of egg)
3. A pair of scones (clotted cream and strawberry jam)
4. A slice of Cake

Cute Teapot

More Teapots!

A Pair of Scones with O-lala Clotted Cream and Jam

That is good enough for two person. The scones are excellent (it's warm!) and they only start serving at 3pm onwards and they run out fast! Tried their Potato salad which is good too. And their chocolate cake! Yums! If you want to have an ala carte order of scones, they are RM3.90 per pair.

It does not open on Sundays.

Garra Rufa Fish Therapy @ Bangsar

Fish therapy or fish spa as some may call it is the latest rage in KL. Tiny fishes exfoliate you legs while you relax and dip your legs into the water. It was a fun and ticklish experience.

Nice ambiance

I get to try the Garra Rufa Fish Therapy in Bangsar with my good friend one fine Saturday morning. Located in Bangsar Baru area, it is on the same row as Kemaman Kopitiam. Price is RM38 for 30 minutes and RM72 for 1 hour. They did give us a little extra time as they know we were trying so hard to put our legs in but they were so ticklish! It takes time getting used to. Before you dip your legs, you have to scrub em first. We don't want the fishies to get food poisoning do we? :p

Look at Them Go!

Was it effective? Hmm..the legs felt smoother but I still have a lot more fish food for the fishes..30 minutes is not enough for me! In my opinion, I would think pumice stone and soap would give better results but having fishes nibble at your legs can be a therapautic experience itself. The fishes they use are the real Garra Rufa fishes not the cheaper Chin Chin fishes as the fishes are

  1. Bottom feeders
  2. Did some research on the net, they look like the Garra Rufa fishes

Go early as the fishes are most hungry during that time. The place is quiet and we had very much of the place to ourselves :)

Chawan @ Bangsar

Finally found a new place to hangout in Bangsar Baru area. It is like those kopitiam style of cafe that serves toast, coffee, nasi lemak and such. They serve all kinds of famous local coffee like Tenom, Cap Tupai, Aik Cheong, Kemaman, Muar coffee and a few more that I cannot recall under one roof! All RM3.80 per cup (the small cup). Tried the Tenom and Cap Tupai coffee. Both coffees are great but I prefer the Tenom one as it is thick and creamier. It is so much more affordable than coffees like Starbucks and Coffee Bean.

Interior Made from Stones

Ash Tray Fashioned from Bamboo

It is situated in formerly Devi's corner right in front of Bangsar Village 1 and 2. Will go there for the food next time.

Finding a Common Ground

Things that I do doesn't necessarily mean the other party would be interested. Maybe it's too boring. Maybe it's just not their cup of tea. It's too tough. Compromise? How to compromise if one is too extreme and the other is just not as. They try to slot you in their own activities but how about my own interest?

So, just let the other party do whatever they want to do and I just do whatever I want to do. This ain't going too well.

Marriage is just a Piece of Paper?

I have been pondering, does marriage equal to just a piece of paper? Some say, its to legally bound two person, some say to give self more security, some say just to satisfy their own parents, some say it's for convenience eg: to migrate elsewhere.

For centuries, people get married and marriage wasn't just a piece of paper. Depends on how you perceive it I guess but I do personally think that it is a symbol of unity and commitment to each other.

Hair Kunst @ The Curve

After downloading the MyStyle voucher (to get 50% off hair services) and delaying my appointment a few times, I finally went there.

The place is a little hidden, above Waroeng Penyet. Need to take a lift up that only serves that floor. You can choose to have few types of drinks like tea, green tea or coffee.

My hairstylist was Qamal. He was friendly but wasn't too accommodating when I was trying to make the decision on hair colour and style. Moreover, there is not much change in style after the cut. In fact, it looked practically the same except for the colour. He did a good job with the colour though.

I saw this other stylist, if not mistaken is Bambang. I read from other blogs that he is really good. I saw the way he explained to the customer when choosing colours, he is really good. He even show them how it looks like under the light, explaining why he wants to do certain things to suit the face, etc etc....

If I ever go Hair Kunst again, I will request for his services. It is cheap with the MyStyle voucher RM177.50 for colour, highlight and cut!
