Sid's Pub @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Situated in the quiet corner of Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Sid's Pub is a cosy and convenient neighbourhood pub.

We had an side order of Barbequed Ribs (RM20) which is pretty juicy and succulent. However, it does taste like the ribs have been fried instead of barbequed. However, they are pretty tasty. Good to eat with a pint or two :)

BBQ Pork Ribs

Ploughman's Lunch with Scotch Eggs (RM20) was pretty interesting. I should have order cheese to go with it as well as that is how the ploughman's lunch is supposed to be eaten. Bread with pickles (gerkins, pickled shallots and beetroot relish), cheese and a little bit of meat. I don't really like the scotch eggs though. It's basically hard boiled eggs covered with minced meat and bread crumbs (not deep fried).

Scotch Eggs

Sid's Burger (RM16) pork patty is pretty juicy with plenty of fries. Pretty good burger in my opinion. You can customised the burger further by adding cheese or bacon or pickles.

Sid's Burger

The Guiness here cost RM17 per pint during happy hour. Neat place to hang out after a hard day's of work. There is a ten percent service charge and five percent government tax. :(

Pau Xiang Bak Kut Teh @ One Utama

A little surprising but yes, good bak kut teh in a shopping mall and worth the money! It is located on Lower Ground Floor of One Utama in between new and old wing behind the chinese medicine shop.

This place is famous for their pork trotter tied with strings. If not mistaken, they originated from Klang. The soup of the bak kut teh is different from what I have tried. It is thicker and doesn't have the strong herbal smell (dong guai) but it is pretty good in my opinion.
Menu

Ka Chak (RM10) which means the pork leg is tied with strings (Pao Xiang's signature method) that holds the whole leg together. I heard they say that pork skin contains a lot of collagen and this has loads of it :) The meat is tender and skin is well done.
Ka Chak

Choy Sum (RM9) was just ok . Lightly steamed vegetables with sauce. Stomach (RM10) was just alright too. I wished it could be a little on the softer side and that is just my personal preference. Sam Chan Bah (RM10) which literally means three layer meat that is the pork belly was really tender albeit a little on the fatty side. Pai Kut (RM10) was excellent. The rib portions is very generous and each portion contains about five of these four inches ribs length wise.
Clockwise from top: Choy Sum, Stomach, Sum Chan Bah, Pai Kut

Kitchen Creatures @ Centerpoint, Bandar Utama

Being curious about this place that is located on the first floor of Centerpoint, I finally went there to try it. Been noticing it for quite some time as it has an interesting decoration of many round paper lanterns on its ceiling that is visible when driving past Centerpoint.

Paper Lanterns that can seen from far...

The place was a little crowded but there were still about 1-2 tables empty. Pretty good business it seems and that is a good sign :) However, I think they could improve their service as the waiting staff was very inattentive and we waited for quite some time for them to pass us the menu and taking our order.

We ordered the Chicken Ala King (RM11) which was really tasty. The cream sauce wasn't overwhelming and light which I really like. Goes so well with the buttered rice.

Chicken Ala King

The Grilled Chicken (RM13) is very good too. The chicken is succulent with excellent gravy. Gets my thumbs up for it. Portion is decent too.

Grilled Chicked

However, they Root Beer (RM4.50) does not suit our taste that well. They added ginger into it and tasted really weird. Still prefer the A & W root beer anytime!

Root Beer

One thing to note is that it is no frills dining. Nope, it's not self service but they don't charge any service charge or government tax!

Not Service Charge!

Xian Ding Wei @ Sunway Pyramid

Xian Ding Wei is a Taiwanese restaurant located on the Ground Floor of Sunway Pyramid shopping center. I kinda like the ambiance of the restaurant as it has a slightly modern feel with pink and purple accents. Pretty cosy in my opinion.

The Entrance from the Mall

We ordered fried seafood noodle which was quite good. They did not scrimp on the ingredients with plenty of seafood.
Fried Seafood Noodle

The Deep Fried Salted Chicken (RM10.90) was ok. It could have been more crispier.

Deep Fried Salted Chicken

I pretty liked the Three Cup Chicken set (RM18.90) that comes with a generous serving of chicken, some side dishes, herbal chicken soup and rice served with pork gravy.

Steaming Hot Three Cup Chicken

The side dishes are made out of a single little packet of wantan, some pickled cucumbers and braised baby corn. The soup was pretty flavourful and delicious. Drank it til the last drop!

Three Cup Chicken Set

Overall, the portions are pretty big and filling.
